There are nine total IP addresses available to the users of the Cactus VPN service.
VPN Clients Information
CactusVPN will function with all of the major operating systems on the market, as well as a few of the minor ones. Android telephones and iOS are both supported, allowing mobile users to take advantage of the service. CactusVPN also supports Linux, Windows and Mac OS. There is a client that you can download from their site.
CactusVPN will work with DD-WRT routers.
Common Error Messages
If you’re getting error messages, you can check with the FAQ at the provider site. Torrent access and P2P access is only permitted through the Netherlands-based servers. If you’re unable to access these services, you may want to try switching to one of the servers based in the Netherlands.
If you’re still on Windows XP, you might get a warning about the TAP-Win32 Adapter. This warning can be disregarded and you can install the software. Click “Continue Anyway” to complete your installation of the client.
Logging and Privacy Policy
Connection logs are kept for two days for troubleshooting and administrative purposes. No activity logs on users are stored.
Legal Use / Torrent Policy
There are no restrictions on usage, however you must use a Netherlands-based server if you want to run bit torrent protocols.
CactusVPN vs. The Competition
CactusVPN has solid performance, a good selection of countries to choose from and is a very well put together service. We like the fact that CactusVPN is under the jurisdiction of Moldova which is different when compared to other VPN providers.
CactusVPN Conclusion
CactusVPN has some very nice features. The client allows you to configure your services so that, if your VPN connection is lost, certain programs can automatically be shut down, a nice feature for privacy. Their support generally gets good marks for being fast and responsive and they have plenty of options in terms of packages. The support for DD-WRT routers is also a nice feature, as these devices are becoming more popular all the time. Overall, this company started out well and has added features over the last year that have made it a solid and reliable VPN service.
